American president Barrack Obama studied Liberal arts. Obama spent 2 years of his life studying liberal arts which introduced him to subjects like politics and Public speaking.

 

What is the job all about?
You could work in varied disciplines because of your wide exposure in Sciences and Arts. Training in analytical abilities, problem solving, communication, interpersonal skills etc you become proficient in finding solutions to a host of issues and problems. You could be a Politician or become a Writer, or go in in for advertising or in Social Sciences or in Public Relations or Management etc.

 

Can I go for it?
Since Liberal Arts teaches you both Mathematics and English, Economic & Politics it brings into focus ones abilities not just in the single sphere of Arts or Science but a combination of both. One can actually expect to make oneself effective and creative. One’s adaptability and ability to handle multi-tasking responsibilities expand exponentially. These skills are needed in every sphere of human endeavour and therefore to grow professionally becomes easier then when only in a single dimension training & background.

 

Is there a future in this field?
Since there is a wide variety of studies involved there are also a wide variety of Careers, you could choose careers that are wider in scope and certainly easier to go higher in the career ladder.

 

Where do I start?
In Goa:
Unfortunately there is no scope for these studies at the moment. You could though complete your 10+2 in Goa in any higher secondary school then proceed outside Goa in Institutions indicated below

Employment Avenues
If you major majoring in Psychology you could become a Psychologist. Of if you major in Social Sciences you could consider HR as an Option. If you take English print or electronic journalism, advertising, civil services, writing, research, training &teaching could be some of the Options.

If you have taken Science or Commerce as a major financial analysis, market research, sales, banking, public relations and entrepreneurship are some are just some of the careers that students can go for after their graduation. Additionally, the advantage of having studied different subjects accelerates the process of making a more informed choice for the post-graduation and already orients one on the elements of the disciplines likely to be covered under post-graduation. It prepares one for higher studies and their entrances.

 

Monies
Initially like in most careers the start salary is low but once you prove yourself you could easily earn in the region of Rs.25,000/- to Rs. 50,000/- pm and more.

 

Please do not be satisfied with just acquiring a Degree/Diploma – try and enhance your CV by doing online learning programs (with a certificate) of programs relevant to your choice of career. Your chances of employment will be much better than just a plain degree/diploma.
