The aim of designing Interiors,is to help sooth the sensitivities of individuals and groups. A beautiful design is more than just choosing colors and furniture. It must serve the unique needs of each client and reflect their personality through designs. Designing of Interiors could be for homes, Spiritual places, Auditoriums, Offices, shops, etc., or any space for that matter, which needs to mark the character of the person/s for which it is designed. So, needs must be carefully noted and concepts prepared with deep understanding and sensitivity.

If you are aesthetically inclined, and have abilities in recommending suitable furniture, drapes, lighting, colour of walls, music systems, etc. that gives the ambiance the Customer is looking for, then this is the right Career choice for you.

Nowadays,even middle Class families have deeper pockets and are prepared to spend a small fortune, to make their home into a small cosy paradise. Investment in Paintings,Designer Furniture, Music Systems, Lighting, Filigrees, are all part of modern living. So, the future in Interior Designing is in a manner of speaking, limitless.
Where to Begin
in Goa
After 10 + 2: Do a 4-year program in Visual Art and earn a BFA Degree (Bachelor of Fine Art) at Altinho in Panaji, Goa.The Program has 2 branches; one in Fine Art and the other in Applied Art.

They also have an Advanced Diploma program in Interior Design 3 years and a Post Grad prog in Interior and Spatial Design for 1 year

Employment Avenues:
Initially perhaps work as an Assistant to Architects / Interior Designers. Then slowly graduate to working as an independent Interior Designer – either for a big Architectural firm or as an independent business person.

Customers pay well, if they get what they are looking for.So it is important to study carefully the needs / Budget of the Customer, and money will not be too far behind.
Please do not be satisfied with just acquiring a Degree/Diploma – try and enhance your CV by doing online learning programs (with a certificate) of programs relevant to your choice of career. Your chances of employment will be much better than just a plain degree/diploma.
